Omniva parcel machines make Europe closer for Latvians
Omniva parcel machines make Europe much more accessible for Latvians
The logistics company Omniva will offer delivery services from parcel machines on not only the Baltic but also the European scale, thus marking a new development stage of the company.
From now on everyone will be able to place a parcel in the nearest parcel machine and a courier will deliver it to the destination address in any of the 23 European countries covered by the network, irrespective of whether the destination is a street in London or a Hungarian village, for an attractive price compared with other offers on the market; for instance, a 10 kg S-size parcel delivered from a Latvian Omniva parcel machine to any address in the United Kingdom would cost 17.49 EUR for a 5-6 day delivery while a 20 kg M-size parcel delivered to Germany would cost 18.99 EUR for a 5-day delivery. This is one of the services by which the subsidiary company of the Estonian company Omniva plans to grow its market share in Latvia in the area of parcel delivery services in 2014. The company has set a target to increase its total turnover 5 times, and to this end new services will be introduced and the current parcel machine network will be expanded with 8 new bigger-sized parcel machines by the end of the year, thus servicing the booming deliveries during the Christmas period.
"We are glad that we are able to take this step forward in Latvia by expanding our parcel deliveries from parcel machines - our customers were only offered parcel deliveries on the Baltic scale while now the whole of Europe is available. This is a very significant turning point for our company which is an international logistics company with ambitious aims. We expect that the most popular destinations could be those countries were many Latvians currently live, for instance, the United Kingdom, in view of the fact that many Latvians have emigrated to European Union countries while their relatives have stayed in Latvia. By introducing this new Omniva service customers were offered an opportunity to choose between a traditional channel and a convenient and innovative solution. By using parcel machines people living in Latvia will be able to send the necessary item to their relatives and friends in a convenient way in less than a week's time,” said Joona Saluveer, Member of Omniva Board.
The new service is now available to private individuals in the e-self-service environment of the company's website. Omniva currently offers parcel deliveries from and to its 38 parcel machines all over Latvia – Rīga, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Jelgava, Jūrmala, Cēsis, Rēzekne, Ventspils, Jēkabpils, Ogre, Tukums, Valmiera, Saldus, Ķekava, Kuldīga, Dundaga and Sigulda. The new destinations available for parcel deliveries from the parcel machines are Austria, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, France, Sweden, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania and Hungary.
